New Case Subtype for Consumer Debt Cases Now Available on Florida's e-Filing Portal

A new case subtype is now available on Florida’s e-Filing Portal for County Civil Division cases.

Those who are filing new cases involving consumer debt that is not tied to real property should select “Consumer-Debt (Non-Insurance)” as the case subtype on the e-Filing Portal.

The new case subtype will indicate to the Miami-Dade Clerk’s Office that the case should be blind-filed (randomly assigned) among the judges at the court location closest to the consumer’s address, pursuant to 15 U.S.C. § 1692i(a)(2)(B) of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Administrative Order 23-31 A1.

The Florida Courts e-Filing Portal may be accessed here.

Learn more about the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act here.
