Earlier this month, DePaul University College of Law proudly paid tribute to the late Judge Julio Jimenez (JD ‘77) - a beloved member of the #TeamJud11 family and distinguished DePaul Law alumnus - with the unveiling of his portrait in the law school’s Hall of Judges.
Judge Jimenez dedicated his life to justice, being appointed in 2003 to the 11th Circuit Bench, where he served as a Circuit Court Judge until his passing in 2012. Prior to joining the circuit, he practiced as a private criminal defense attorney for 23 years, and general civil and criminal practice for two years.
During the event, hosted by the Latino Law Student Association, his son, Carlos Jimenez, delivered heartfelt remarks as the keynote speaker, reflecting on his father’s legacy and lifelong commitment to justice and how it impacted his own legal career.
Also in attendance was Ms. Evelyn Inza, Operations Director for the Eleventh Circuit Criminal Division. The event was especially meaningful for her, as she previously served as judicial assistant to Judge Jimenez throughout his time at the Eleventh Circuit.
