Florida Supreme Court Issues Best Practices Guidelines Developed by COVID-19 Workgroup

Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles T. Canady today issued a set of Best Practices Guidelines developed by the COVID-19 Workgroup to help individuals navigate new virtual or remote court proceedings established by Florida’s state courts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines offer assistance to judges, court staff and those who are representing themselves in remote court proceedings.

The Best Practices Guidelines cover the following topics:

• Helping Pro Se Litigants with Remote Appearance Technology

• Representing Yourself and Using Remote Appearance Technology with the Courts

• Management of Evidence in Remote Hearings in Civil and Family Cases

• Out-of-County Inmates

The full text of the guidelines may be downloaded below or viewed online here.

The 17-member COVID-19 Workgroup was established by Chief Justice Canady Administrative Order AOSC20-28 on April 21, 2020 and is charged with developing recommendations for a phased return to full court operations following the guidance of public health and government authorities.
