Drive Legal Holds Summer Promotion to Reduce Wait Times for Individuals Seeking to Restore their Driver Licenses

11th Judicial Circuit of Florida

For Immediate Release June 12, 2018

The Miami-Dade Courts’ Drive Legal Program, which helps individuals whose licenses were suspended due to outstanding traffic tickets, is holding a promotion this summer to reduce wait times for those who want to restore their suspended licenses.

“Weekly Walk-In Day,” in effect now through August 31, 2018, eliminates the requirement for an appointment in order to meet with a Drive Legal counselor. During this time, individuals can walk in on scheduled promotion days and will be able to meet with a Drive Legal counselor that same day. The “Weekly Walk-In Day” schedule is listed below under “Contact Drive Legal.”

The lack of a valid license has many impacts on people’s lives – from restricting the means by which they may get to work or school to drop off and pick up their children, to not having valid identification, since a driver’s license is often used as a form of ID for many personal and business matters. The lack of a valid license also may impact employment.

The ability to see a counselor without having to wait days or weeks for their appointment day will allow those who want to enroll in the Drive Legal program to get on the path to a valid license immediately. Those who are near completion of the program and just need to have a final meeting with a Drive Legal counselor to close out their cases will also be able to walk in without an appointment, close out their cases, and remove their driver license suspensions the same day.
