COVID-19 Advisory #129: AO 21-23 Reinstates Mask Requirement at All Miami-Dade Courts

Following a Miami-Dade County mandate issued yesterday requiring the wearing of masks in all County facilities, and in response to a resurgence of COVID-19 transmission rates, the Honorable Nushin G. Sayfie, Chief Judge of the Miami-Dade Courts, has reinstated mask requirements at all Miami-Dade courthouses.

Administrative Order (AO) 21-23 requires all judges, court staff and visitors to any Miami-Dade courthouse to wear a mask at all times while inside the courthouse. Security staff will provide masks to those who do not have one. Masks must be worn in order to enter any Miami-Dade courthouse.

“We are taking a common sense and science-based step today in keeping with Mayor Levine Cava’s directive and the advice of the CDC and the medical experts who regularly consult with us on COVID-19 safety practices,” Chief Judge Sayfie said. “From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have remained steadfast in our goal to continue to provide the community with access to justice while keeping all court participants as safe as possible.”
