The Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center, located at 175 NW 1st Avenue, was evacuated and closed on Tuesday afternoon, August 1st, due to flooding from a roof drain impacted by significant rain. The building will remain closed on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, for repairs.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida has been selected as the first of three jurisdictions nationwide to conduct demonstration projects to study the implementation of innovations aimed at reducing cost and delay in civil cases. The Miami-Dade project will focus on the effects of active case management on the timely and cost effective resolution of these cases.

COVID-19 Advisory #7: Self-Monitoring Notice

 

A person who on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th worked in Courtroom 6-2, Judge William Altfield’s Courtroom at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building, 1351 NW 12 Street, has tested positive for coronavirus disease COVID-19.

Persons who were in this location on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th should follow the self-monitoring steps outlined in the Centers for Disease Control website at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/risk-assessment.html for the next 14 days:

  • Remain alert for subjective fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
  • If they feel feverish or develop cough or difficulty breathing during the self-observation period, they should take their temperature, self-isolate, limit contact with others, and seek advice by telephone from a healthcare provider or their local health department to determine whether medical evaluation is needed.

Self-monitoring means people should monitor themselves for fever by taking their temperatures twice a day and remain alert for cough or difficulty breathing. If they feel feverish or develop measured fever, cough, or difficulty breathing during the self-monitoring period, they should self-isolate, limit contact with others, and seek advice by telephone from a healthcare provider or their local health department to determine whether medical evaluation is needed.
