The Honorable Bertila Soto was re-elected – without opposition – to another two-year term as Chief Judge. She is the first female and first Hispanic Chief Judge in the history of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida has been selected as the first of three jurisdictions nationwide to conduct demonstration projects to study the implementation of innovations aimed at reducing cost and delay in civil cases. The Miami-Dade project will focus on the effects of active case management on the timely and cost effective resolution of these cases.

Health Foundation of South Florida has awarded a $98,000 grant to the Miami-Dade Courts’ Adult Drug Court to support participant access to integrated drug treatment services.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida and its justice and community partners have received a $350,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to support the creation of a new Veterans Treatment Court in Miami-Dade County.
