Please be aware that due to growing concerns about the safety of our community and the spread of the Coronavirus and COVID-19 disease, the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse is closed to the public, except on mission critical matters. 

However, our divisions remain open. The Judge and his/her staff are working and available.   We are addressing matters remotely via phone conferences and/or COURTMAP and ZOOM.

for submitting emergency motions and proposed orders to your assigned Judge

The Judges will be using the ZOOM platform for hearings.  It is FREE.  If you are unfamiliar with the Zoom platform, please go to the ZOOM training page website to learn how to access the platform for use.

Motion Calendar will be held for NON-EVIDENTIARY matters every Wednesday at 9:30 AM. Please note:  As in a courtroom, you will be waiting for the Host until the JA/Bailiff brings you out of the Waiting Room and into the Hearing Room. Please make sure to name yourself correctly (first and last name) on the Zoom screen name so the Court can identify you as the correct party for your case.

This calendar will be heard via ZOOM and ZOOM Invites will be sent 3 days prior to the Calendar.  Please make sure that you check Junk Mail as well as your Inbox since the Invite will be coming from CourtMap directly. 


On the E-FILING PORTAL, file the Motion with any exhibits. Include 11thFC17@jud11.flcourts.org in all filings.

On the E-FILING PORTAL, E-SERVE the opposing side with your filing.

On COURTMAP, coordinate with opposing party and select the date to have the motion heard. Once a date is agreed upon you may set the hearing using in the Motion Calendar slot. As supporting documents, attach the motion and any responses with an e-file stamp.

On COURTMAP also include as supporting documents a Notice of Hearing. The notice of hearing must be filed with the Clerk at least 7 business days prior to the hearing, not including the day of the hearing.  PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL NOTICES NOT FILED IN A TIMELY MANNER WILL BE REJECTED.

Proposed Orders are to be submitted through CourtMap with it's respective Motion and Cover Letter. Please DO NOT submit the Proposed Orders in advance. The Proposed Orders are to be submitted after the hearing takes place. Competing Orders should be emailed to Chambers at 11thFC17@jud11.flcourts.org. Please DO NOT submit competing Orders through CourtMAP.

CANCELLATIONSIf the hearing will not take place, the party setting the hearing should file Notice of Cancellation and cancel the hearing in CourtMap as well.

courtMAP is a new online Management and Access Platform built upon technology infrastructure from Broward’s Court Management System.

courtMAP combines eCourtesy with online scheduling, online notification/confirmation, and allows judges to create and e-File orders. courtMAP also allows parties to self-schedule their case events - motion calendar, special sets, and trials - and attach the documentation previously submitted via eCourtesy.
