Judicial Assignment History

Circuit Judge: Circuit Civil Division

JA's email is asampedro@jud11.flcourts.org (Copy to all parties required) - DO NOT SEND HEARING MATERIALS OR PROPOSED ORDERS unless materials are more than 20 pages as stated in Motion calendar and Special Set procedures.

NEW (1) Do NOT submit proposed orders through CourtMAP unless: 1) instructed by the Court pursuant to a hearing or 2) is listed here as not requiring a hearing.

(2) Before submitting an order to the court for approval, preview the order and make sure that the judge’s signature is not alone on a page. You can reduce the font or number of lines to accomplish this. This avoids the need for the judge to reformat every order. If the order is “Agreed” or “Unopposed” submit it under “Agreed Orders,” not “Proposed Orders,” you will receive a quicker response. Thank you.

     1. We are scheduling special sets and motions for motion calendars as usual. Please submit requests via CourtMAP.
     2. Evidentiary hearings can be scheduled but require preparation. They will be considered on a case by case basis.
     3. Special sets will be conducted via Zoom unless instructed by the Court if personal appearance is needed. The day prior to the hearing, you will receive an email via CourtMAP containing a Zoom invitation link. Please upload the documents for the judge’s review 7 days prior to the hearing.  DO NOT EMAIL THE JA THESE DOCUMENTS.  To upload the documents: in Courtmap, go to “Calendar” tab, then “View Events” and click on “Events\Supporting Documents\Add.” Doing this IS NOT the same as uploading the documents to the “Progress Docket” which then appears in "Case Events.”  EACH PARTY SHOULD UPLOAD THEIR PROPOSED ORDER TO “SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS” AFTER THE HEARING FOR THE JUDGE'S RULING.

***NEW***4. Please deliver hard copies of Motion(s) and supporting documents to chambers for ALL special sets at least seven (7) days before the hearing.

***NEW*** 5. Cancellations - Please email NOTICE OF CANCELLATION to asampedro@jud11.flcourts.org at least 24 Hours in advance. E-Filing will NOT cancel your hearing, you must send Notice to JA for the case to be removed from Calendar.

FWOPS & CMC’S (Case Management Conferences)
Will go forward as usual. The judge will review Motions for Good Cause prior to the hearing. CMC's only, if you would like to submit documents for use during the hearing, please submit via CourtMap.

Jury trials are being held in person. Non-jury trials (other than foreclosures) will be decided on a case by case basis.  Therefore, calendar calls for JURY; NON-JURY; NON-FORECLOSURE CASES will go forward via Zoom.  PLEASE NOTIFY THE JA PRIOR TO THE CALENDAR CALL, IF THERE IS A DISPUTE REGARDING WHETHER A TRIAL IS JURY OR NON-JURY.

All hearings are being held thru Zoom. You will receive the Zoom invite from the Court the day before the hearing.

5 Minute Foreclosure Motion Calendar –  DO NO PLACE CASE ON 5 MINUTE MOTION CALENDAR TO REQUEST A SPECIAL SET HEARING. See Special Set Hearings. COURT STRICTLY ADHERES TO 5 MINUTES, no matter how many motions are set. Court allows several motions per hearing ONLY IF combined, they will take less than 5 minutes to be heard. If either side disagrees that the hearing will take 5 minutes or less, request a special set.
If the order is to be submitted on CourtMAP, state in the order or by separate letter, the date and time of the hearing and what occurred. Please do not place special set requests on 5 minute motion calendar.

***DO NOT SET CASE TWICE FOR THE SAME DAY!!!!!!! The second setting will be cancelled by the Court***

***To set on Foreclosure Motion Calendar, select the date from the Court's availability (found on CourtMap) and submit your supporting documents (filed motion, etc.) when creating the event (setting the hearing) on CourtMAP.  DO NOT create multiple events (set multiple hearings) on any one case. Once a green "Success" message appears, the hearing has made calendar.

IMPORTANT: Although the movant and the parties listed on the service list will receive an email indicating that a hearing has been set, a notice of hearing will not automatically generate.  The movant MUST e-file a notice of hearing via the e-portal system.
To confirm the hearing, click on the "docket" tab on the navigation bar and select the event date (the hearing date); the scheduled hearing will appear.

20 or More Pages – The Court will not print documents larger than 20 pages. If the documents submitted thru CourtMAP are more than 20 pages, please submit hard copy to chambers 7 calendar days prior to the hearing. You MUST do both, CourtMAP and hard copy.

Agreed Orders – must state, in the body of the order, that opposing counsel was consulted and agrees. “Agreed” in title only is insufficient.

Cancellations  – Please email notices of cancellation to asampedro@jud11.flcourts.org at least 24 hours in advance.

CourtMAP – NEVER SUBMIT DUPLICATE MOTIONS.  The Court does not accept the following orders via CourtMAP: Final and Default Judgments, Motions Setting Foreclosure Sale, Writs of Possession, Motions to Continue Trial (even if agreed), Motions to Withdraw as Counsel, Motions for Orders to Show Cause.

Default Judgments and Final Default Judgments (1) if appearing telephonically, send the following by mail and PRIOR TO THE HEARING: complete package including, proof of service for each defendant sought to be defaulted, diligent search affidavit if relying on publication, non-military affidavit and proposed order; (2) after confirming receipt of package in chambers, place case on motion calendar; (3) if appearing in person, bring same to hearing. Court will not sign Judgments on CourtMap.

Ex Parte Discovery Motions – Moving party must comply with Administrative Order 06-09 (order available herein).

Foreclosure Sale Cancellations: If possible, set on Monday Foreclosure Motion Calendar.  If it is an emergency, e-file the motion then submit it to the judge via CourtMAP under CA11 Emergency Motions.

Motions to Withdraw – Use Court’s order provided herein. Withdrawing attorney must send a copy of the order to former client.

Reading Material for Judge – the Court will NOT read materials sent the night before a hearing but the hearing will proceed. Deliver materials 7 days prior to hearing.

Telephonic Appearances – Court no longer requires motions. An email with a Zoom invitation link will be sent via CourtMAP the day prior to the hearing.

This Section is now using courtMAP and document submissions are no longer available via eCourtesy.

courtMAP is a new online Management and Access Platform built upon technology infrastructure from Broward’s Court Management System.

courtMAP combines eCourtesy with online scheduling, online notification/confirmation, and allows judges to create and e-File orders. courtMAP also allows parties to self-schedule their case events - motion calendar, special sets, and trials - and attach the documentation previously submitted via eCourtesy.
