Ms. Rene Tew, Esq. Appointed General Magistrate for the Family Division

The Honorable Nushin G. Sayfie, Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, has appointed Ms. Rene Tew, Esq. as General Magistrate for the Family Division, effective April 11, 2022.

Ms. Tew joined the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in 2006, first as a Case Manager in the Family Division, then transitioning to Assistant General Counsel with the Office of the General Counsel, where she served from 2007 up until her appointment as Magistrate.

During her time with the General Counsel’s Office, Ms. Tew served as Chairperson of the Process Server Review Board from 2009 to 2011. In 2015, she co-presented on the “Ethical Challenges Faced by Parent Coordinators” at the Florida Dispute Resolution Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, and she has presented circuit-wide training for parenting coordinators. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has assisted the Circuit’s technology and HR departments by providing circuit-wide training on legal issues to judges and staff.

Ms. Tew received her law degree from the University of Miami in 1997 and was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida in 2000. She is a member of the Miami-Dade Bar, the First Family Law American Inn of Court, and the Florida Trial Court Staff Attorneys Association. Ms. Tew also contributes to the legal community through her service on the Family Law and Animal Law Sections of The Florida Bar.
