Cover Sheets for New Filings in the County Civil Division to Include New Case Type for Unlawful Detainers

Starting after midnight on March 25, 2024, a new case type will be available on the County Civil Division cover sheet on Florida’s e-Filing Portal.

Those who are filing new cases involving unlawful detainers will now be able to select “Unlawful Detainer” as the case type on the cover sheet. Unlawful Detainer cases are those where one party is asking the courts to remove another party from a property, and that other party is not a renter.

The new case type will indicate to the Miami-Dade Clerk’s Office that the case should be blind-filed (randomly assigned) among the judges at the court location closest to the property address, pursuant to Chapter 82, Florida Statutes, and Administrative Order 04-05(3)(a).

The Florida Courts e-Filing Portal may be accessed here.
