APABA Presents the Trial Reenactment of the Case of Minoru Yasui

October 14, 2016

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of South Florida presented a trial reenactment of the case of United States v. Minoru Yasui, which took place on June 12, 1942.

Minoru Yasui (1917-1987) was a lawyer who fought for the civil rights of Japanese Americans during World War II and challenged the constitutionality of internment camps and curfews used during that time to restrict the movements of Japanese Americans.

The reenactment took place in historic Courtroom 6-1 of the Dade County Courthouse, with Chief Judge Bertila Soto and other Eleventh Judicial Circuit judges participating in the roles of the actual justices from the trial.
