In Memoriam: Retired Judge Donald Edward Stone

In Memory of Retired Judge Donald Edward Stone

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida joins family members and friends in mourning the passing of Retired Judge Donald Edward Stone on February 20, 2023.

Judge Stone, a graduate of Florida State University and the University of Miami School of Law, was elected in 1964 to the Dade County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. He later became a Circuit Court Judge, where he served unopposed until his retirement in 1987.

Among his many contributions to the legal community, Judge Stone served as President of the Southern Juvenile Court Judges in 1968, and President of the Florida Council of Juvenile Court Judges in 1969. Also in 1969, he served as Vice President of the National Juvenile and Family Court Judges.

Aside from his legal contributions, Judge Stone gave back to the Miami-Dade community by managing The Miami Dolphins Youth Program on behalf of Founder/Owner Joseph Robbie. Through this program, thousands of South Florida youth were able to attend Dolphin home games and interact with positive role models.

He is survived by his children, Robert (Libby), Mike (Judy), Mark and Lisa (Dave) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
