Chief Judge Nushin G. Sayfie Appoints Luis G. Montaldo as Interim Clerk of Courts

Following the requirements of Florida Statute 28.09, and pursuant to Administrative Order 23-1, the Honorable Nushin G. Sayfie, Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, has appointed Luis G. Montaldo as Interim Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts.

Mr. Montaldo, who previously served as General Counsel for the Clerk of Courts, will assume the duties and responsibilities of Clerk following the Dec. 31st passing of Miami-Dade Clerk of Courts Harvey Ruvin.

Administrative Order 23-1 is effective January 2, 2023 and will automatically expire upon an appointment by the Governor that supersedes the Order, or upon another person taking office and being sworn in as Clerk pursuant to an election or special election – whichever occurs first.

“As we all continue to mourn the loss of our longtime Clerk Harvey Ruvin, it is important that the people of Miami-Dade County continue to be well-served by the Clerk’s Office to which Mr. Ruvin devoted so many decades of tireless work and dedication,” said Chief Judge Sayfie.

“Mr. Montaldo was Mr. Ruvin’s General Counsel and right hand for many years, and I am confident that he will well and faithfully lead the office of Clerk as it continues to provide essential services for the people of Miami-Dade County.”
