#Congratulations to Judge Steve Leifman for Receiving the 11th Annual Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Award

November 20, 2024

Congratulations to Judge Steve Leifman for receiving the 11th Annual Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Award of Excellence from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce this past week.

The award is presented each year to a visionary leader who has played an active role in developing concepts and strategies that have transformed the community.

Judge Leifman was recognized for more than 20 years of work at the forefront of mental health criminal justice reform in Miami-Dade County and across the United States. He led the creation of the Criminal Mental Health Project in 2000, now a model court for other jurisdictions across the nation, and played a key role in the soon-to-open Miami Center for Mental Health and Recovery.
