Continuing our Profiles in Service series, today we invite you to #GetToKnow Judge Cristina Miranda.
This past weekend, Judge Miranda was presented with the League of Prosecutors 2026 Justice Award, which recognizes integrity, courage, and a deep commitment to justice.
The Justice Awards are presented yearly to celebrate outstanding contributions from members of the judiciary, the legal community, and law enforcement.
Judge Miranda was born and raised in Miami and has served our community for nearly three decades.
She was first appointed to the County Court in 2006 by then-Governor Jeb Bush and later elevated to the Circuit Court Bench by then-Governor Rick Scott. She currently serves in the Circuit Criminal Division presiding over major felony cases, including homicides, drug trafficking and RICO cases, where she has been recognized for her ability to administer the law with dignity and impartiality.
Prior to her appointment as a judge, Judge Miranda served as a prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office for nine years, where she tried cases in County, Circuit, and Juvenile court.
During her time there, she became the first female prosecutor in the Multi‑Agency Gang Strike Force. Her work included major gang and trafficking investigations, as well as collaboration with federal agencies on gun‑crime and human‑trafficking initiatives, leading to multiple recognitions from the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, ATF, and DEA.
Beyond the courtroom, Judge Miranda is deeply committed to community service. She volunteers with the American Red Cross, Chapman Partnership, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She also mentors students from local schools and universities and serves on the board of the National Institute for Public Safety Advancement.
Congratulations to Judge Miranda on this most well-deserved award!
We also share our congratulations with former #TeamJud11 Judge Jason Redding Quinones, who is now the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and also received a League of Prosecutors Award this weekend.
